Cascade American Legion Post 239 October Events
On Saturday, October 10, come out to watch your favorite couples battle it out for the win at Mister/Miss Cascade! Every dollar is a vote, and all proceeds go to our Veterans at Martinsburg VA Hospital, so please be generous. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; contest begins at 7:00 p.m. Members and guests must be 21 years of age.
The 3rd Annual Spa Day is being held on Friday, October 18, at 11:00 a.m. Come get pampered—nails, hair, etc.—and then have your picture taken by a professional photographer. Event features raffles and vendors. The cost is by donation, and all proceeds support Cumberland Valley Breast Cancer Awareness.
Halloween parties will be held on October 31: kids—1:00-3:00 p.m.; adults—8:00 p.m.-midnight.

October is upon us. Summer is gone, but ahead of us are the brilliant colors of fall. The lawn mowers will soon be replaced with snow blowers.
Fall is the season when we have our Octoberfest here at the Legion—lots of fun, lots of good food, and lots of things to do. During our Octoberfest celebration, we will be needing some assistance from anyone who would like to volunteer for a couple of hours. We have spaces available to rent!
We are holding many fun events here in October. Ralph Gann will be here twice: October 2 and October 30. DJ Jake will be here on October 9, Jimmy James on October 16, and Big Al is here on Friday, October 23. Our annual Halloween Party will be held on Friday, October 30, with Ralph Gann doing the honors, so get together a costume and come on down for lots of fun and prizes-galore. The Thurmont Dance Club starts back up on October 24; anyone who wants to have some “dancing good times,” come on down. The Dance Club has its dance event here in our ballroom every month.
On Wednesdays, we are having our Ace of Hearts game. Drawings at 7:30 p.m.; cut-off for ticket sales is Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Currently, there are $2,200 in the pot; the winner, if present, gets sixty percent of that. So, come on out for some fun and a chance to win some cash.
We also have our Slot Machines, which are owned by the Lottery Commission, and are paying out at an estimated
ninety percent.
On Thursday, there is bingo for those of you who enjoy the chance to beat the numbers game. Our kitchen is open for these events, as well as on Friday evening and on Sunday afternoon. For the NFL fans, we have the NFL Sunday Ticket Package—any game that is on, we can get. Football fans, come on out, bring a crowd, have some lunch, and enjoy the games.
