Wastewater System Bond Issued

The Mayor and Commissioners approved the issuance of bond through the Maryland Water Quality Administration to improve the town’s wastewater system.

The $2.6-million bond will fund a project to install new lines on North Church Street. The improvement was required in order for the Maryland State Highway Administration to finish replacing the sidewalks along the street.

Thurmont Police Sponsor National Night Out

Thurmont officials are encouraging residents to participate in National Night Out, an annual event designed to strengthen communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners.

National Night Out 2015 will be on Tuesday, August 4.

The goal of National Night Out is to heighten crime-prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and, most importantly, send a message that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. It’s also the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbors even better.
